A summary of our Centenary Event
A huge thank you to all those who were able to attend last week's momentous occasion. We really did make history, gathering in the same London venue which hosted our first conference 100 years ago.
We were privileged to be in the company of more than 600 delegates including Federation reps and staff, police and crime commissioners, chief officers, charities and other special guests from throughout England and Wales. We were also honoured to have Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Dame Cressida Dick and the Home Secretary join us on the day.
The sessions were varied with input from officers who gave personal accounts of the occasions when they've been helped by the Federation, a senior policing panel debated on the priorities of the current policing situation and we also looked ahead at future priorities. We hope that you were able to take something away from these sessions.
It was really encouraging to see the level of interaction between our speakers and the audience, with questions being asked via the Slido app. We were inundated with questions but regrettably we weren't able to publish or answer them all due to their number.
Thank you again for all those involved and here's to another 100 years!
National Chair calls for end to ‘postcode lottery of funding

John questioned the fairness of the current funding formula and said it was time for an inquiry into a new model for policing.

Home Secretary praises ‘brave police’ at Federation’s Centenary
Home Secretary, Priti Patel, paid tribute to the “bravery, commitment and sacrifices” of police officers during her keynote speech. Priti said meeting rank and file officers had been the most “humbling” aspect of her three months in post to date, adding “I’m hugely honoured that my job is to help you do yours.”
